Crazy Ideas #58 Box flares on a 244

I've got an 89 244 project car. I recently had the crazy idea to put box flares all around. Anybody with a better imagination than me, or photoshop skills have any idea how great/creppy this would look?
I'm thinking something like this, except for with a 244.

There is a maroon/burgundy one that has a very similar style of widebody done to it. I tried to find it by searching but couldn't. I will keep trying for a bit longer before I give up...

yeah I know the one your talking about it. I personally think it didn't match the bodylines at all and looked like poo.

I wasn't necessarily saying that I love the kit, just that it is similar to the style he's looking for, at least, I think.

Edit: I think one of the reasons it doesn't look good is that on the fenders, there is no trim bump/hump whatever, so they just like gigantic rolling hills of sheetmetal.

I think it would look better with a crease or trim piece to break it up.

I've seen that car in person a few times. It looks better in person. But I hear the comments about the lack of the trim crease and being a bit wide. That isn't a kit and was done by hand to the best of my knowledge.. I have to respect that.

Would you carry the widebody on the rear quarter panels into the rear doors being that it is a 244 and not a 242 in those pics?

Never seen a 244 widebody, I think if done right it could look good.

Theres a green 244 with 17 inch deep dish steelies and a nice widebody that was custom built. Cant remember the webiste..... Looked hot.

Well, the rear doors are probably going to get welded shut eventually, but I haven't decided whether to carry the widebody into the doors, or have the widebody sorta follow the curve on the rear door (except a bit further forward and run brake ducting through a little grille on the flares. I've got a feeling that that would be the cat's behindus.

why dont people ever carry it into the door? and have a panel line in there? it would look SO much better than the wide body just ending and the regular door starting.

Because the door hinge stays the same but the outer shell moves out, so opening the doors on a full wide body would be tough. I cant even picture how it would work.
