Hey guys i realllly need to know this quickly! If i do a swap from a 87 740T and put in a 90+ manny, 15G/16T (not sure which one yet) and the 3" DP +Catback. Is that all i need before i can start driving it or is it imperative i need a tune up. What is involved in the tune up? How much does it cost etc.? Cheers guys, Thanks andy

well, how dose the car run now? if it runs like poo, then, yea do a tune up. if it runs great now just swap the turbo and go with it.....

yeah well it seems to be running fine right now (just has a seized turbo), but one of the guy from volvo performance tuning thinks that its imperative i get the tune up because you cant just do the swap, (i.e. it wont provide enough fuel right now or something) however this is the first ive heard, obviously it would be 'better' to do the tune up but is it necessary straight away, surely i could drive it for a couple of weeks before i get the cash for the tune up?

new cap and rotor, plugs and wires, do a compression test make sure all is good. clean out the throttle body. maybe remove the intake and clean it and port it out. have the injectors cleaned. check test and repace most of the engine sensors .. and that's almost all you can really do
just make sure the engine is running in good shape. all IC hoses are good and all vac lines are replaced. the better shape the car is the better it will react to more power

What exactly do you mean by "tune up"? Ie new plugs/rotors and the like? Or modify fuel system for more delivery... they are very different.

he means as in modify fuel deleivery I beleive.
I would imaine with more air going intot he motor that it would definetly need to be tuned with more fuel going into the motor or you will be running lean.

stock 357(30lb/hr) injectors should be good to @ least 15psi

I mean both guys, but yes VQ your also correct (thats what i was mainly focusing on). I was told i need to get it to a dyno tune and perhaps even have a custom made chip?

Consider you have LH 2.2, the guy that said you need a tune up is right on the money as far as I'm concerned. In particular, you want to make sure your AMM is calibrated now that you have a bigger compresor housing on there sucking a lot more air.
Here is a guide on how to do it.

What chip I have now
What one i need, and what difference does it make
Are they still available in the group buy? etc.
Cheers
