17"x7.5" Moda R6 wheels for my '82 244. Just bought them off ebay wrapped in yokohama ES100 225/45 ZR17 tires with less than 200 miles on the wheels and rubber for 220.00. That's certainly a price I can live with.
150 more for shipping and they arrived at my door.... in Alaska. Now I have to figure out what size spacers I need (BMW offset). I expect I'll have to do a bit of fender cutting. what are the benefits of rolling the fender lip instead of cutting it back? strength?

I'm just wondering how many days you can drive the summer tires before you have to change to winter ones again...;-)

rolling usually preserves the finish a little better, if you are good at it. also, less extreme than cutting.

are they just bmw offset? or BMW bolt pattern also? you'll probably want something close to ET10 for those, but check with towery to make sure

ET10 will rub like no other in the back if the car is anything like mine... I have 235/45-17s with an effective 24mm offset and I rub on my rolled fenders in the back(when bottomed out only now though, axle's perfectly centered side to side, maybe a bit pushed back though) and fender liners in the front.

And I'm JEALOUS!!!!! Only that much money?! Those are also some of my favorite wheels. Back when I first got into volvos I saw them on Doug's car, and I was wanting them for a third gen Maxima then!!!(still would)

I'm assuming they're bmw offset as well as bolt pattern... but the offset probably varies by year/model? I'm guessing here I don't know much about making non-original wheels fit. I guess I need to figure out what offset these are, and then compare it to the volvo offset which is 20mm positive? should I take a wheel by the shop and ask them the offset? I'm going to have the guy on ebay machine me a cheap set of adapters/spacers so I have to figure out what to tell him.

Doug- if you catch this, do you have experience with the 17X7.5 wheels? what did you go with?

G'day... nice wheels... the offset for ur 82' 240 is prolly 8 - 12... i know some 16 - 17" fit, however if u wanna go higher u need to get customs made, of course spacers can do the job but most ppl I have spoken to wont have anything to do with spacers.

Im getting some 19"s made for my 80' 242, i'll get the measurements they did and post em up here.

I'm not Doug, but I have Tethys on my car, and they're 17x7.5. Check my build thread on my 244(and other threads about it) and they will tell you about them. I'd say here, but I'm late for work!!! Maybe I'll get back to you tomorrow morning for more specifics. Basically, with 235/45s(too big), I rub on rolled fenders in the back with the axle centered, with the rear lowered about 2", with the fenders rolled, and an effective 24mm offset. I can't imagine running anything lower with this size of tires. Go with 215/45s and you might be able to get away with pretty much no rubbing if your car isn't quite as low and is stiffer than cut stock springs, with less offset.
