View Full Version : Anyone have pics of a 240-245 with the side bodyline shaved flat?

I'm curious what it would look like (probably not too good) but for a shaved, smoothed slammed on its nuts 240, it might look alright (shaved raingutters for that matter)

Personally, I would never trim it, its the only thing that keeps a 240 from having an incredibly high looking beltline.

Somebody has to have done this.

I'll post, just so theres not a million views and no posts, but I don't have the picture.

I'd be interested to see what it would look like, although I agree that I don't think that it will look good at all.

The car would also have to be a darker color, because on the colors, it needs a black stripe there (not necessarily stock trim, but something) to break it up...

Hope someone posts something! :-D

I believe he means completely removing the 'hump' on the side of the body.

DaytonAE86, is that what you mean? If you're just talking about welding up the holes from the trim and repainting, then I'll dig up pics of that, but I'm pretty sure you mean the entire 'hump'?

Not quite what I was looking for, but I LOVE your wagon, its sick.

Yeah, I'm looking for the whole side completely shaved flat, maybe shaved door handles. It'd be a sweet cruiser.

It has to have been done somewhere.

It's not his wagon :-P See here.. (http://forums.turbobricks.com/showthread.php?t=81384)

Edit: Dayton, I'll try to do a chop of it, and post what I come up with, although I dont know if I could get it to look 'real'...

Yikes, this could take a little bit, and I'm not sure if I can get the desired result. I'll get to work...

Hopefully someone will post some pics though!

Its going to be very difficult, you have to shave a full 2" swipe out of the entire length of the car pretty much, and weld in slightly curved sheetmetal. The even harder part is doing it without warping it, because its so so much.

I started with a car that would be easy because the entire side of the car is the same shade of color, and the trim isn't creating a shadow...

IMO, it makes the door look huge. the quarters look okay because they have the wheel arches to obstruct them, but the door looks retarded... :-P

I'll try to find a different car to dump and make flat black here in a second...

Better than I thought it would, but I like the hump.

I shortened the whole car a little in the middle section, and I think that fixes the "issues" with it, but yeah, I still like the hump:

Yeah, the line does kind of complete everything, but it does look good without it.... I figured it would really throw things off.

Thanks man.

Only one I can think of is Pete Moorcrofts 745 with the trim line smoothed. Looked awesome, but surely a LOT of work. I have lots of pics of his car.

the hump is good. gives it character. dont cut it out... it'd be like cutting the rain gutters out.
