Is this a simple option or are the bearing housings different as well?
If it can be done where do you get the parts to do it?

You'll need a new, ball bearing center section. At least ATP Turbo sells such turbos (garrett T3 Ball Bearing), do not know if they sell only center sections too.

ATP will sell you the centre section, or CHRA. Costs almost as much as a new turbo though. Are your lag problems that severe or do you just want some new technology?

Yea, I gotta say. If you need to lay down ball bearing money, lay down enough for a GT series turbo.

the problem with a ball bearing turo is that they are not rebuildable as far as i can tell, you can get a ballbearing gt28 w/ ceramic wheel from japan for less than 400$ if you are patient, t series turbos are durable and easily fixed

too bad the ceramic wheels aren't good past 15psi
Most of the big power motors in Scandanavia are doing 25psi+. If you want big power stick with old tech and big boost.

I really don't see an advantage to ball bearing turbos. There is no real friction advantage and they are extremely sensitive to any kind of dirt in the oil.
Full floating bearings are better for street use. They will tolerate crud in the oil as long as it's not gravel sized.
