I may be getting a v cam, I was just trying to find some info on it. Is it good for use in a turbo application. Right now, I have the stock T cam in my car, would the V cam be an improvement?

Thanks,
Dan

I don't know much about the V cam, other than the VX is half V and half X. With that said, and knowing that he VX is an improvement over the T, I am going to guess the V would be to. Also, the fact that the T cam is worse than a wet turd.

The V-icam is a nice improvement over the T cam.

I have used a T, a VX and am on a V now.

The V keep splenty of low end.

I ran 227 hp and 260ft lbs at the wheels with a V cam. It is a very driveable cam.

He wasn't hating, he was enlightening. Electrolysis is just one (efficient) way to make corrosion, and it targets the "lowest" metal in the solution.
I have a 531 that is getting all welded up.

And the V rocks.

how does it compare to the IPD cam in terms of performance(dominance)?

Sorry, wasn't hating. See how it came off that way. It is exciting to mess with chemicals. Luckily I haven't messed with them...so I have all my limbs. lol Sadly, my good friend from HS days lost an arm and eye to pipe bombs he was having fun with.

Guy in army gave me simple recipe for C4, vaseline and the right pool cleaner. lol Never tried it. Watch for static. :)

Was interesting looking at the 531s though. Had a steel ring inserted in the aluminum.

Thermite, an incendiary agent that contains iron oxide and aluminum.

The aluminum was kinda spongy like someone mentioned before, probably work better than just regular aluminum shavings.

So I was like corroded aluminum shavings! sounds like fun...haha

Yah, I got the last 531. Will take it by the guy I got welding up the other two.

I have a few V cams for sale.

Google is always good, better than tbricks search when tbricks is all working right?

Hi
I have both of my Volvo's on V-cams. the NA is a good bit livelier than the normal M cam but the turbo is a huge difference. It really has a bite on the other side of 5300 refs, which is usually abruptly stopped by the limiter. As an example this may give an impression:
With the T-cam third gear was finfished at around 70 miles/ h, now the limiter puts and end to it at the other side of 90 miles/h.
I also noticed an torque increase starting around 2400 refs compared to the T-cam, and what i also noticed: a 10% increase in fuel consumption, but this could be due to the change in drivestyle.
My exhaust / turbo / airbox are stock, and i am weary to change anything on that, maybe over the time I might turn up the pressure to see what happens.
Ps.: I have one spare V-cam lying here, which has the signs described on the other tread, but should do for another good lot of miles. If anyone is interested get in contact with me.
Greetings from Ireland, hans"

IMHO, the V is very similar to the for-boost version of the V15.

It's different than the A because it has wider lobe separation, and slightly more lift and duration (not much).

volvo marine crankshaft in a 240? 200
posted by someone claiming to be powerless on Tue Apr 27 17:39 UTC 2004

I've heard rumors about a volvo marine engine crankshaft with turbo pistons bringing a 240 up to 160 h.p. without(!) a turbo setup. How can I find out more about this??? Obviously I have my doubts. How could it make such an improvemnet, and if it's so great, why didn't volvo do it to begin with? At the same time, this is very, very tempting...

It is not an unusual modification here in Scandinavia, particularly for racing. As mentioned, you need new pistons as well, or turn off the existing ones. If you search for "b230 marinvev", "b23 marinvev", "volvo marinvev", you will find a few interesting Swedish sites. Like this one; a Volvo PV with B23 + marine crankshaft and 236 hp: http://medlem.spray.se/nikl/matsoewa.html

The cam used in the Penta AQ151 is the Volvo V grind. It is actually a good cam for a turbo motor. The VX3, which has the same intake profile as the V, but a lesser exhaust profile, would be better for a non turbo.

These motors were very close to auto motors and can pretty much be dropped in and driven daily. Or internals can be swapped.

Well, unless there is some pool cleaner that is nearly all RDX, he wasn't telling the truth. C4 is 91% RDX and 9% plasticizer. Vasoline is a plasticizer, BTW. I don't think it is possible to make RDX without nitric acid.

Yah, I figured it might be BS, didn't mess with it, hassle for nothing, or death. lol
