just had a thought... i know plenty of us have camcorders and editing software, what do you all think about having streaming how-to articles? possibly as a suplement along with the real article :e-shrug:

hahaha, as long as you edit out the cussing right?
Dana, I've tried to outline stuff with photo's for "how-to's" over at clubvolvo but I find myself lacking either time to take the pictures or the extra hand to take a picture while Im doing XYZ. That being said, if there are people out there willing to do it, I'd say go for it!! It would be a lot of help to the people here!

I'll tell Rob we need a "how to do a burnout" video ASAP!!
Actually we could use a camera man at the next autocross. Hopefully Ben will be running a bright red 242 turbo, which will delegate me as the lightning rod of volvo jokes from the announcers...unless he takes down a wall of cones and stops the event like on sunday.

I don't own a video camera, but I was a camera man and floor director for a TV station for 5 years, so I can shoot video if someone has a camera. I had planned on making it up to the next DC autocross anyway, and I doubt I'll be in your run group. If no one has a camera I'll ask some friends at the station to borrow a camera. Can't hurt to ask.
I seriously need to make it to a DC autocross. Never been to one, which is a little odd, since it has always been my "home" region.

Are you going to set it up like to VFAQ at DSMtalk? I thought that scheme was very informative.

i figure some of if not all the how-to articles we'll be getting in, could have the option to have a video clip showing either the whole thing, or just a particular "confusion" portion of it just to help clear up some questions...
... and satisfy some of those of us with broadband :-P

Thanks. I'll let Ben know that he should bring his camera. He drives the tan '88 245 DL seen in my post with all the pictures from the auto-X a couple weeks ago. But he may be driving a 242Ti this time.

that's a cool idea, but really what's needed is just a good series of pictures. Everyone loves pictures. The best do it yourself instructions that I have ever followed have had photos for each step along with a little bit of informative text. That’s how they do it in hotrod mags. you know the b&w mags, that show you how to shave your turn signal an door handles off a 30's hotrod.
Doug has done a good job so far at club volvo. If i haven't seen a post of his in a while I check out the project 242 post, and see what he's up to or what ups has just brought him :x: .I documented with 400 pics, my engine build, and swap... i could donate pics for a how to swap out you 2.1L. article... :e-shrug:

OK, I'll let you know for sure late next week. (Thursday, Friday)
I will also bring digital and film still cams.
Do you suppose they would allow in-cam photography without using brackets? I can bring my helmet.

I'm almost certain that they would not allow it. One of the first points under the safety inspection is that cameras must be securely mounted if installed. In addition, all loose items must be removed from the car, so a hand held camera pretty much goes against both of those.
If I had my own camera, I would probably just bolt it to the dashboard on the passengers side, above the glove box. My dash is already heavily cracked, so a few holes wouldn't hurt.
