LILJOE

So after lurking for the last year and half or so and ocassionally posting, I've decided it's time to share with you the car that has started my volvo madness. :-P It's an 86 760 wagon, turbo charged. My father in law bought the car a few years back and used it to run around in and to take my now wife to school, etc. I started dating her right after highschool and at the time I drove a geo metro convertible and I also had a 72 cadillac as a project car. I didn't know much about cars then and when I first saw this thing I thought ewwww...what a piece....:barf:

I wrecked the geo a year into our relationship and all I had was my 72 cadillac to drive which mind you was every bit a PROJECT. No heater in the winter, it was horrible, plus I had a 30 min commute so the gas was killing me. My father in law decided to buy a truck and he let me borrow the volvo a few days a week to get to work. Pretty cool guy....until I slid into someone at a stop sign and did the front end damage on the drivers side. It's still there. Needless to say, taking that car home to my future father in law was a bit scary, I thought my life was over but all he said was "are you going to fix it?" "Yes Sir!" What else can you say in that situation?

He ended up giving the car to my wife before we got married and we drove it around for awhile. A year or so until thanksgiving of last year at which point the car just died. I spent a month or so screwing with it until I took it to a mechanic who pointed out the fuel pump and replaced it for me. $400 later (yeah, I think I overpaid...) Didn't pass smog, took it to a smog repair place that wanted $600 to put on a new cat and then would pass it for me. No way. I said screw this crap, we need a truck, lets go buy one. (oh yeah, it also developed a rather large oil leak from the back of the motor at this time)

So we bought a truck and the volvo sat in my front yard (i don't think the neigbors liked that) until I was recently able to sell some other projects and move it to the back. I've been kinda screwing around with it but came to the conclusion I should just buy a more desirable model in better shape, etc. etc......

My wife said no way. Her dad gave it to her and there alot of memories plus he is happy that we still have it and wants us to fix it up. I told her ok fine, but then I get to go through it with a fine tooth comb and fix it up right, how I want it, so I'll be doing a lot more posting as i get things together.

I hope that wasn't too much reading for you guys but since I havn't really done anything yet thats all I've got. The pics are its current state.
