The rest of the car looks just like my 740 but that looks like a V70 bumper cover...just a lot of custom work or is there something that looks like that available??? I know, I know...it's not in the USA. I just really like the look and thought somebody might have some insight.
Thanks,
Mike

As far as I know that is a 91 940 with a V70 bumper. The car belongs to a guy named Jonas , he lives in Sweden. I have been trying to duplicate that myself. Can't get the curved V70 bumper to fit the square 940 front, so what I did was to make my own version using a 960 bumper. Looks almost indentical. The car happens to be in the shop right now getting finished. Should be out next week. If you would like I can send some pictures. My car happens to be an 87 740 with 940 fenders, hood, European headlights ( like the blue wagon ) 940 grille, 960 rear bumper.

That car sounds hot! You've gotta post some pictures of it.
uhh, the top half of the bumper might be Volvo but the bottom half is too aggressive even for an R.... or maybe a R with that cast Aluminum insert added? or am I just behind on the lastest R cars?
And the grille that doesn't look familiar at all....

That's a V70R bumper cover/spoiler as you would find it originally. The little grilles in the lower spoiler are normally black and quite understated, but when silver, they stand out.

The grille is custom. Notice the "dent" in the bumper cover below the grille. That's where the 70 series hood would sit, with integrated grille. This car has a custom housing built around what looks to be a 940/960 grille. The housing may be a modified 70 series hood, as I suspect, and the grille may be modified to better fit the opening it needs to fill. I assume they left the hood alone since the grille takes care of the proper fit around the lights & bumper.
And the badge on the center of the grille is from a new model, but the rest of the slash looks like the original 900 series.

How's this for custom? (grille is part of the hood):

Ok, Mike I am not arguing here, I more or less was curious and posted to the thread to keep myself in the loop, and speak for those of us a bit puzzeled by it.
My one issue of contention is that I don't think you can modify and rechrome plastic griilles as easily as your first reply-post implies. I am still suspecting that that grill is, or almost is, exactly as produced. I'm trying to think if it, like the grilles you explained about, might be more familiar in black or even upside down.

The grille on Jonas car is an 850 grille with a modified grille frame. The grille also has a newer emblem.
