On the top left of my gmail page, I clicked a link titled "photos".
It is for setting up a google/picasa web album.
Any users yet? I read the 45 minute rules/disclaimer, and it seems OK.

I use Picasa under Win and Linux. I use the web-albums to share photos with people. If you are running Picasa on Windows, it is really slick. Just select the photos you want to share, click on the "upload to web" (or some-such) menu option, and watch it go to work.

BTW, the posting for my 240 GLT wheels that I am selling has a reference to a picasa web page.

Fairly happy with Flickr right now, and hacking away at my PHP Gallery2 clone for the stuff I'm not happy with. Unlike Picassa, Flickr doesn't require proprietary software to use it. In fact, the Gallery2 clone can sync up to a Flickr account.

I already use pbase.com, but I was curious about picasa. And interested in how google works into the deal, with gmail.
I pay to use pbase, but it gives huge storage space and a great, versatile layout. And they prorate, it isn't "pay once a year".
http://www.pbase.com/pricing.html

from my main page:

View Galleries : You have 27 galleries and 1038 images online.
These pages have been viewed a total of 115925 times. (view full statistics)
View Usage and Payment History : Your photos are using 413 Megabytes of storage space.
You have 4 months of service left on your account.
On average, your photos use 407 KB each.

They also have compression tools, histograms, etc.

I use Jalbum on my own host, and FTP the files over myself because I'm a control freak.

JAlbum is really great once you have it set up. You can have it do everything including resizing and uploading.
