A while ago I was driving in the dark and ran over a ditch (construction maybe) which didn't exist that last time I had driven that road. Something hit my exhaust and this put enough force on the exhaust manifold studs to pull some out and break others off- all four of the top ones were gone. I took the head off to take it to a machine shop for repairs, and while it was there I got them to clean and check it, and I got a 3 angle valve job as well. Just thought I'd toss up some pretty head pictures. It's only a 160, but it's a clean 160! The car's back together now and feels great : D

Not quite sure yet, I've got to re-tune it now that the head flows differently. After that maybe I'll do a transmission and go for a bit more than 8psi of boost. I've got the 3", wideband, knocksense, MSnS and now the valve job so it seems to me that a nice header and some more boost/fuel is the next step for the engine. Oh and I need to follow your lead and get a smaller steering wheel- I've still got the big Volvo one from the early '80s...

how much did it cost?

It was $192 iirc.

Yeah that's what I was thinking! The valve job itself was oly $125.

Next time take a bit of sandpaper to the edge of the combustion chamber to get rid of that really sharp lip, don't want that becoming a hot spot. But really, it's not a big deal so don't worry about it now. The head looks great, I love it when they're all clean and spotless like that. Did you paint it?

Nice. Should have cut grooves in it while it was off.

The shop was Dover USA, it's down by the airport. http://www.doverusa.com

I can take a final install pick and toss it up, it's nothing too exciting since this was initially just a repair job. It does look nice having a good clean head in there though!
