242 and 244 are the same? Right?

My friend complained about how cramped the back seat was in the 242 and i told him it was the same as the wagon i used to have. He told me im a dumbass

Explain!

The wagon has a little more headroom.
No difference other than maybe claustrophobia from the door pillar in your vision on a 242 as opposed to a 244 where you get your own window and get more glass that you can look out of in front of you. The amount of glass available to look out of forward of the rear passenger is considerably less in a 242. Good trick of the eye...also makes 242s look kinda ugly with their back window and 244s utterly boring.

i've perceived MORE backseat room in my 242 compared to my brother's 245. I also think the legroom in the front two seats is longer in the 242. just my perception.

The 244, 242 and 245 are ALL the same sizes, in width, lenght and height.

They are based on the same plattform, some pillars have been moved on the 242, and the trunk area has been re-enforced on the 245. Either way, they are the same. They even -almost- weigh the same too.. :)

Some differences are there, for instance commando bumpers add a few centimeters to the length ;)
some spring-setups (stock) make the car higher.. but the inside space is the same.. except the 245s incredible load capacity ;)

How?
The doors are the same, windshield is the same.. -where- is it higher? Is the roofsection actually been raised? hmm. I googled and found
Height, curb weight 56.3" (143 cm) 57.5" (146 cm)
for 244/2 and 245.. Weird.

the roof of a sunroof sedan is not identical to a non-sunroof sedan. and the wagon roof goes straight on the back half where the sedan curves (look at the top of the rear doors on a wagon...it curves down because the sedan roof curves down and they only made one rear door type.

but the leg room should generally be the same. Move the seat forward if the rear passenger doesn't have enough leg room. :-P

The backseat of my 242 definetly feels more roomy and comfortable than that of a 244.I think it's cause the rear armrests in a 242 are far more superior than a 244/245's

The roof is higher. Look above the windshield.

AHA!

I've always pondered their reasoning for sloping the rear doors.
