more info needed...

Is this something you purchased assembled or did you assemble it?

Did you run through the test procedure on assembly?

Are you dealing with a direct serial port or a usb-serial adapter?

ms1 or 2? ms2 needs the higher baud rate, and you need to select the correct com port from megatune

ha i have the same laptop, it may be your serial port.

go to
-control panel
-system
-hardware
-device manager
-rightclick com port1 (you have to open ports (COM & LPT)
-go to port settings
-flow control and set for hardware.

thats how i got mine to communicate, if that doest work try playing with the other options.

Good luck

My Kenny-built MS box won't respond to the tach signals put out by a normal stim, unless you jumper the MS. So all it ever does on the stim is blink a few LED's then shut off since it doesn't think the motor is either running or cranking. But it's still 'alive' and I can connect to it.

That is expected behavior depending on how it was assembled. I don't know much about the V2.2 boards, but is XG1 jumpered to XG2 - it needs to be for the stim to work.

Yeah, didn't mean to leave the impression that it was not an expected behavior. You could probably monkey around with the stim to get it to work without a jumper, but really, not much point. It's nice to unplug the MS box from the car and use the stim on it when reflashing, that way you don't have to try and disable the fuel and ignition so it doesn't fry your coil and/or flood the engine during the reflash.
