Sent a email asking if there was any rust and got back a reply of no. Been saving as best I can lately and offered 1200 for it, rediculously low I know but litterally the life savings of a married college student. Didn't hear back for almost 2 weeks and out of the blue get a response that a deal may be possible. Talk to the owner on the phone, he said another buyer had it inspected and was quoted 1000 to fix it so he would take 1500, I talked him down to 1400 and send the check out tomorrow. Turns out the problem is that the transmission slips out of gear while idleing at a light and the shop claimed it needed a new driveshaft U joint in addition to the transmission service. They quoted the U joint at 3 hours labor so there bill looks well padded. My mother-in-law has offered to pick up the car and store it in her garage for me till I can get to her place to claim it.
First task will be to swap in an m46 which is sitting in my attic, one local JY has a 260 with a m46 so I'll source the pedal, driveshaft, lever and master and slave cylinders from there. Already have a cluth and pressure plate.
Since I get this the wife has decided that she gets the black 240 but that the interior I'm putting in is too masculine for her so this car may or may not end up with a green and black interior. I may instead do a full resto on the upholstery. Haven't decided yet.
Second project is to build turbo manifolds and try to fit a pair of turbos on there, I was thinking either a set from an s80 or a pair of 13c, either way something that can spool quickly and put in a decent amount. Curious as to how long a b27 can survive under say 9-10psi meanwhile finishing my rebuild to drop in. Would ultimately like a nice V6 twin turbo build with a better engine.
