Wow we got listed on their site. All those other clubs are fielding way more cars than we'll ever get. Have you invited the VS and Swedespeed types and the Volvo Owners club? That might help get a reasonable turn out. What time and what else is going on when we gets there? Lemme know.
Thanks
Renny

Hey! Don't speak before it actually happens! :-P
If it was way in advance, we may be able to get more peoples out there, but we'll see what we actually cook up. I'll notify the "round fendered volvo" guys on Yahoo Groups. :)

I informed the volvospeed guys, and I'll do quite a bit of word of mouth (I'm old fashioned) advertising before then, so if everyone that says they will shows up we should have a pretty big turnout. Hopefully we can get more than 25 or 30 guys out there. Our name will be on the marquee the day of too which I think is pretty damn cool...
The owner says that we should show up at around 6 or 6:30, I don't know what they'll be showing, but who really cares? It's volvos at a drive-in! Hopefully we'll see a lot of you guys there. Later,
Jason

Hey I'm in. And if you look here <-- (avaitar) you'll see that I live in Tigard, which is on most of your's ways to Newberg. If you want to meet here on the way there lemme know, I live 1.5 miles off of 99w.
sk8daysaweek
03-16-2007, 06:00 PM
I live right off of 99W just 5 minutes from tigard, I could stop down there anytime I feel like it really! I just need a reason..... Or not really. ;-)

Maybe we could make a day of it or something. Kyle and I can just show up one weekend and start working on your car... I'll have to make a stop at winco though... they have some cheap eats. ;-)
Doesn't Newberg have like the highest number of churches per capita, ever?

For real??? I didn't know that! If it's true... I don't think I like Newberg! :grrr:

Looks like I'll be there. I'll be up to visit my buddy in Hillsboro that weekend. We should have a cruise yhat day and end it at the drive in. It'll be cool to meet some new people.
sk8daysaweek
03-25-2007, 12:03 PM
We've tossed around the idea of a cruise/photoshoot before, and if enough people are interested in the cruise, there are some nice backroads around there. I'm thinking cruise from 4-5:30? We need to be at the theatre early so we can get photos to put on the 99W site and so it doesn't fill up and someone gets left out... Supposedly it fills quickly. It looks like we'll have a very good turnout.

Yeah like I said in the OVT thread, the roads around my house on Bald Peak are traveled by street bikes, motorcycles, built cars, rice, and hicks everyday. I can set up a loop to go up the back side of Bald Peak then pass my house and go down the other side towards Gaston and back to McMinnville in time for the movie. Also possible photos at the State Park but theres not a whole lot of room so I am not sure if that would work out or not.

Good to hear Dan! You're going to have a different(and rebuilt) turbo on when you come up, riiiiight? And maybe some suspension work? :-P
I was thinking that this was on a weekday, but it's on a Saturday, so I'm all arms for a drive beforehand!!!
sk8daysaweek
03-25-2007, 01:39 PM
Yea, it's on a Saturday... Should we make the cruise official then? I'm making flyers today so, I could use a meeting place and a time to start the cruise. I'm thinking 4pm and I don't know the location. Any ideas?
Edit: maybe I shouldn't put the cruise and photoshoot on the flyers, we don't want too many on the cruise.

I'm putting the new turbo on here within the next couple weeks, it's all rebuilt an just waiting to be clocked and installed. I decided just to go with KYB shocks/struts in the wagon since it's just my DD, I'll hopefully be picking up the rear swaybar from Pat pretty soon and doing poly bushings all around. It'll give me a better chance of keeping up with you then.:oogle: It was kinda sad that the only two N/A cars on the Santa Cruz drive were whoopin up on the three turbo cars.

Good to hear Dan, good to hear... I'm running those shocks/struts on my car right now, and there isn't any extra bounce with the stock cut springs, so you'll be good to go. And it was kind of sad, but I'm pretty sure we were pushing them a little harder than you guys. And LANNY?! Damn. He was driving the nuts off of that thing.

I got some flyers made up, I'll be circulating them soon. But, no you don't need one to get in. Just show up and roll with us. As long as you are in a volvo you are more than welcome to join us. I hope to see you there. Also, if you want a flyer just to have I'll be posting them on boards all over the place... Try fred meyers, but if I see your car while I'm passing them out, there will be one on your windsheild... ;-)

Sorry to double post but... I just did a quick head count, and we got 23 confirmed cars! That only includes the the people who have posted on OVT or turbobricks... So it's not including all the word of mouth, flyers, and the yahoo groups... Thats a pretty solid turnout I think. :)

A random guy at a Chevron commented how he liked the Volvo sticker on my moms 80,000 mile 90 244DL. He said he wanted to get an old Volvo and knew about the drive in event at Newberg. Guess I might have to roll there and get gas next time and see if he is there and who he is.

Yeah, you and half of the rest of the Oregon Volvo crowd. It was fun hanging out with all the people that showed up, including the ones from CALIFORNIA. w00t! After party was nice too... :) Except for that dam loud fire alarm...
And next time, mental note, if you're going to be sitting in the rear of your wagon with the hatch open, make sure you bring a few blankets. Unless it's later in the summer... :)
We'll have to do this again though, it was good stuff.
