Well i got my motor all rebuilt and all that jazz.
Thing is, it doesnt start. Spray starter fluid in there, crank it, runs great, and runs great on gas, but will not start without me pulling the injector wires and using starter fluid.
Timing is on, but every time the plugs foul out. Sometimes I can hit floodclear and it will start, but its "hit or miss"
So WTF? lol I suck at this and i am getting totally frustrated
Edit: the car is a b21ft with 308cc injectors. I also have some 46# injectors i have yet to put in, if people have any numbers for that ill swap em out!

For now, it's easy. Just check out your cranking map (or whatever MSII uses) and jack DOWN the bins at around the temps that you're at. Keep doing that till it'll start up within 1-2 cranks. It takes some fine tuning, but once you get it tuned for colt start, and tuned for hot start, you can sorta fudge all the numbers in between on a linear scale and it'll work just fine.
It sounds like you're getting way too much fuel during cranking. Is your coolant temp sensor working? FOR SURE? Mine got unplugged so MS thought it was -40*F out and was squirting 180% fuel in, wouldn't even sputter when cranking and it obviously fouled the plugs.

are you breaking in a new motor on a 1st time MS install? tsk tsk tsk.
post your msq.

not a 1st time ms install, i blew the motor last summer. The car runs fine but starting it blows.
And aspirator,
MS2 just has a 160 and a -40, and im sure it works (its a gm sensor and the motor hovers around 185, which is what my t-stat is iirc)
MY ignition/afr/ve tables were borked when i tried to update to a later code, it all ends at 100kpa, but i havent gotten to boost yet, so it still runs alright.
How do i post msq? I havent yet became a "contributor" so i cant directly load files

Then contribute! Duh :-P . Send Dana $10 bucks, give something back to the board.
Here are all my current settings:

Cranking PW on MS-2 only has the -40* and 170* inputs, it interpolates in between.
Did the formulas on the megasquirt site not work for you? They worked okay for me. Maybe there is another problem.

Okay well i got the car to start reliably today.
I put my 46# injectors in. The cranking pulsewidths are .1 for 160 and .5 for -40. That simply doesnt make sense. I put the priming pulse at .1 also to rule it out as an issue. I didnt detect any leaky injectors, i turned my MS off, jumped my fuel pump, let it sit for a minute, pulled the plugs and cranked it. No gas or anything.
So.... whatever it runs!
Whats the paypal addy for contributor btw?
The car runs great, doesnt foul the plugs, its a bit rich, but ill take care of that later.

Do you have a wideband? Sorry if I missed that elsewhere.
Contributor stuff is probably in the website/board forum, or just PM Dana (boostdemon I think).

I havent driven the car yet (lacks tags and the clutch needs to adjusted.
And by drive i mean on the street, its been taken up and down the road a few times

Okay I have an odd suspicion about why my cranking stuff may be weird.
I posted on MS forums... but here it is:
I have not yet changed the settings in megasquirt to run low-impedance injectors. So my PWM current limit was 100% now needs to be 30
PWM threshold was 25.4 or somethin, now needs to be 1.0
Will it effect startup?

So you're running low impedence injectors WITHOUT resistors right? That's all fine and dandy, just gotta make sure that your settings are right, and I don't have a clue what they need to be. I run low imp injectors WITH resistors, and my settings are 100% and 25.4.

I am wondering if I added resistors (or changed the settings in megatune) will the injectors fire....differently?
Like my cranking pulsewidths are so low and if I added the resistors I am wondering if the injectors will act differently, and if I will need to change the startup settings.

Forget about the settings for right now, first make sure that your injectors have resistors, or that you have the proper settings. Firing low impedence injectors without resistors and without the proper settings might have fried them. Doofus. :-P
