It's about damn time to introduce ourselves... spring and summer are just around the corner and I would like to eventually get a GTG going... so drop a line and maybe even a picture of your brick. I have a White 1990 245 M47... no pics yet as it's making its way back from Europe. :-(
Let's see some Boston area bricks!!!

I think there's about 10-20 active tbricker members...?
It's an old tradition that us Bostonian tbrickers promise to show up at meets and then cancel at the last second w/ various lame excuses.

Sounds good to me.
Hey John, I saw you on Rte 9 in Brookline a while back. You were going East, just before you hit the reservoir, I was going West.
My car looks like a blue version of John's car. I've finally got Canistos on it.

Yep, it's true. There are no large/principal streets to get you from one place to another.. that's usually accomplished by cutting through ten neighborhoods in zig-zag fashion, the "intersections" are all fcuked up, there are no stop signs when there should be, and the signs to get you from one place to another are confusing as all he!! when you can actually find them. It's a zoo out here, but if you ask me I wouldn't have it any other way.
I do feel sorry for out-of-towners though.

Workin on it...I'd love to get together and pick some of your brains about my project...which is child's play compared to some of your cars. Nice V8 wagon there!
Framingham, beer, it all sounds good. When? I'll put a vote in for an early evening during the week, after work hours-like.

I'd love to help you out with suggestions...
I spent a total of 6 years working in the Mercedes/BMW/VW industry. I can offer my insight if you like, but I can't take credit for that V8 wagon... that's Greg Wong's ;-)
My 245 is on a boat right now, it is however at stage 0 (a good thing), so I will go forward with wheels and suspension (Stage 1) as fast as I possibly can. I already scored a set of Tethys :)
I'm all up for beer btw, I'm good on Wednesdays or Fridays, although I'll be driving my 04 4Runner to the party (don't hate).

Yeah thats too nice of a 244 to not have been seen before in the area.
So has anybody set a date for us to all possibly meet then back out of? Fri/Sat work better for me. I'd gladly have people to my place, maybe for a quick burger at Eagles.... but parking is non-existant for those who dont pay for a spot or happen to have an Al/bright sticker

I just finshed the paint in Salem, Ma and hooked up some nice virgo's,crossed drilled rotors, s/s brake lines, side skirts, and a SAM 3" back. I have a IPD turbo cam, powerstroke I/C, and a 60/63 ford T3 being added soon! Interior will be the resto ( black leather is in rough shape)
If you live in Peabody or around it you have seen but; I work in Ipswich and drive route 1 everyday.
This one was a mess when I bought it a few months ago ( lots of rust) but; I have a friend that owns a body shop and she came out great!

I don't think downtown Boston is a good idea. The parking situation sucks ass.

We could do something in the willows of salem or meet a sylvan street grill in danvers ( very close to 128/95) ..
mike114
04-07-2007, 11:06 AM
Sylvan Street Grille in Danvers sounds pretty good... real easy to find.
So, when do you guys want to do this? For me, it either has to be really soon or much later because we have a baby on the way and it is due any day now.... once the baby's out I won't see daylight for a month for sure.
OnlyWagons
04-07-2007, 11:27 AM
If it's during the week (Mon-Thurs), I can do Danvers any evening. My weekends are booked for the next two weeks (4/14 and 4/21)... It's ok though, if you all meet next weekend or the following one, I'll just catch the next meetup.

Mike , You sound like me.. My baby was born in June. Its a blast!
Sundays work best for me. Anyone willing to step up and set a date?
Should we bring some spare parts for swapping?? I know that being on the east coast makes it hard to find many diff. things w/o paying tons of shipping.
FYI I have the name of a shop that is a IPD certified installer in the area.. Just incase anyone needs something installed or setup.. I use these guys for my wifes 850 and any gremlin I cant find in the 240.

Hopefully I can get my car off jack stands by then... after this cold ass winter it has seemed like it would never be driveable again. If it isn't running I might have to bring the GF since I'll need to use her car :) (she is a gearhead anyways though... but not really a Volvo gearhead)

I just noticed over 700 people have viewed this thread :omg:
I think I can speak for everyone when I say: Everyone is welcome to come .. Volvo or no Volvo it will be a great chance to meet up with the local owners and have a good time and of course talk shop.
Turbobricks has been a great help to me finding parts and researching mods. I feel that meeting with local people will only help keep the TB's going. I am going to be doing a few mods that I know I could have never even thought of doing with out the helps of several TB members ( some of them live in New England) . It is always good to have a few people to help with any mod's even better someone that lives close enough to come help :-D ... So please come down and have some fun!

How about the Woburn area? Selfishly, I work there, but it's also at the intersection of 95/93, so it may actually be convenient. There's a Lowe's at Commerce Way where we could meet up and an On The Border next door for post-meet burritos and Dos Equis.

im going to play it by ear.
the exact forcast is:
A few showers in the morning with scattered thunderstorms arriving in the afternoon. A few storms may be severe. High 84F. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 40%.
and im nearly 100% sure that if i show up, pay $20 and it rains in 10 minutes its 100% my loss.
so we will see i suppose...
also: my IPD cam is over powering my 13c/ MBC combination. boost falls off with rpm while power increases with rpm... its kind of weird to watch.

very tempting..... i just wish my tranny (m47) shifted better. i think it needs some plastic piece... that you need to lower the tranny to replace. basically, it means bad shifting into 1st and second. ya know, the 2 you need the most! i cant be bothered to change it cuz i'm supposed to be getting my a$$ into the next 245 (an automatic, unfortunately).

Lane, if you run for better or worse the bricks will not laugh. Ask Weapon if my car is fast. He will tell you its still a work in progress. I am so far awy from a 13 second run.
For the record my clutch was dragging from 2-3 today but who cares its all about learning and making the bricks go faster

outside FEELS like thunderstorms of death.
and weather dot com says that there are severe thunderstorms moving through epping essentially as we speak. and that more severe storms are developing next door to epping in exeter
pro: if we go and it doesnt rain we get the place to ourselves
con: if it rains we all get screwed out of cash.
if the track gets soaked it might not even open.
hrmmm...
i dont know what to do at all...
this video shows that epping will prob get owned repeatedly throughout the night

I haven't replaced them, no. And some are really old... I was happy enough that it was running after the engine/tranny swap (and after re-doing the timing about five times) that I haven't gotten around to the regular maintenance stuff.
I have a Saab APC kit I plan to install once it's running properly, then I'll crank it up to 12psi.
