View Full Version : LC1 calibrationating... what's the scoop-poop?

Following the LC1 "quick start" calibration guide... absolutely no idea if it worked.

After following the calibration procedure, the thing read 12:1 consistently... a few points from where I think it actually was. I did the "free air" calibration by swinging it around in actual free air.

The wiring setup mentioned the black wire was used for calibration.... but the calibration procedure didn't mention the black wire at all.

Lastly... will this thing work as is with MS or does it need to be reprogrammed via logworks?

any help would be appreciated.

Mike

Depends on the age of your LC1. The earliest ones shipped out with a loose black wire that you had to ground for a calibration. The newer (probably the last year and halfs worth) ship with a push button you wire to the black wire.

you will need to plug your computer to the LC1 and program its outputs to go 0-5v = 10.0 - 20.0 AFR

aha! we have a black wire and no LED... so that must mean we ground it for calibration.

Great to know Doug!!! I was rather frustrated/disappointed with the LC1 instructions.

Mark, there is hope for your tuning!!!

Thanks!

Mike the directions for the early LC1's blows. Even worse when they sent you directions for an LC1 and XD16 as 2 different items and 2 different calibration methods.

doesnt MS (my ms2 megatune) has an option for the default settings, .5-1.5 lambda.
I actually programmed it to 0-5.
I tried this year to just turn it on and did the default settings, but no luck so maybe MT doesnt work with it, or maybe it just needs to be recailibrated. I never wired in the button, I just touched the wire to ground and hoped it worked.

That works fine too. MT has the 0-5v default, you just have to turn it on. It never hurts to double check both the LC1 and MT.

I just did this so I have notes:

Program LC-1 with LM Programmer: Configure the Analog output you are using (yellow wire: analog 1 or brown wire: analog 2) for 0-5V 10-20:1 AFR.
Program Megasquirt Configurator: # set INNOVATE_0_5_LINEAR "Innovate, PLX 0-5V 10-20:1 AFR"
In MegaTune: Basic Settings->Exhaust Gas Settings: Set to 'Wideband Sensor' and set your switch point to 2.35V (With a wide-band sensor, set it at the voltage your sensor gives for a stoichiometric mixture (14.7:1 AFR))

Ground the LC-1 and the MegaSquirt together. This is to prevent a voltage differential and will ensure accurate readings. Don't ground it to the battery. Direct engine ground is best, with the blue ground separate from the green & white. Also be sure to put the 5 amp fuse on the power for the LC-1. You can program the analog output you are not using to some constant voltage to check the LC-1.
