I think much more than 17" (maybe 18") is very difficult if not impossible to cram without bodywork.

18"s with a short enough tire should be ok. I dont know on a 740 but I have 225/45/17's on 17X7.5's and I have some rubbing, but unmodified 1/4 panels.

heh.... tadertot....
yea, you can find some nice 18", but if you can get some from you dealership i suggest getting a set of 18" Pegasus, and ordering some of Gilracing Hubcentric wheel spacers.

My car is interesting. I have 17's w/ 235/45/17 nitto tires. It only rubs when I turn it to full lock. As far as I know the wheel wells haven't been modified. Just got the car yesterday & haven't really taken a look. The car also dosen't use spacers. I didn't know VOX MGR's came in the correct offset for 240's? :e-shrug: :e-shrug:

I've got 18's on and only had minor rubbing on the back right. A die grinder took care of that on the inner lip. No other mods need for clearance. I lowered my car over 3 inches in the front also!

for clarification, in my post i was attempting to say that 17"s work and 18"s do also i think, but not sure about larger.

Hello,
I have an 85 740. I have 17x7.5 mille miglia spyders. I am running only a 205/45/17 tire but I am going to be using a 225/45 soon. The current setup is fine and dosen't rub anywhere.

S60R 18x8" are actually cheaper than the 18x7.5" Pegasus wheels, I think they were in the $250-ish range per wheel for the R wheels. The offset for the R wheels is 46mm, might require you to run Gil's 32mm spacer in front for clearance from the strut housings.
I have H&R 25mm spacers and currently have Volans w/205/45ZR17s, no rubbing. I am going to be switching to 225/45ZR17s, I have heard these will fit fine too. There is a turbobricks member with a 745 equipped with 17x9s in back and I believe 245 width tires, I don't remember the exact specs. I think there is another member running 19" Axis wheels on a 945.

Elliot, the S60R 18X8 wheels are the pegasus, there isn't an 18X7.5 pegasus iirc, only a 17X7.5 version on the V70Rs
