damn dude that sux, ouch! best of luck to your repairs

Has your insurance totaled it?
It doesn't take much to total an old volvo here. That would definitely do it.
If your 240 is anything like the flexible flier mine is, the damage could be pretty extensive. Especially if the strut tower or frame rail is messed up. Even if the car is worth like 3500, it is probably totaled and to have it be the same again might be a lot more difficult than finding another decent shell.
To fix it, you'd probably need someone to cut an inner fender off another car no? I'd guess it also means painting it. Since I doubt any fenders/hood will match.

Man, that bites big time. Police report? You're gonna get screwed as the rear-ender regardless.

2fast242gt
04-27-2007, 11:56 PM
yeah i know... and no "frame" damage. mike will post pics of what i tweeked. nothing to bad. i wont have a matching fender for a while, o well

04-28-2007, 12:02 AM
Damn, I sure you can find everything you need. That's going to be a project to get it back right but it does look repairable from this perspective. Check the lower frame rail, lower radiator support and carefully inspect how far back the damage on the inner fender is. That's what is going to tell you how much you need to repair and whether you need the car pulled or not. Measure diagonally across the engine compartment. I think in the Volvo Body Green book there are measurements of that stuff.

2fast242gt
04-28-2007, 12:07 AM
mike will post pics soon, its for sure VERY repairable no bending of the frame rails what so ever. the strut towers wernt tweeked at all. youll see.

Ouch dude, alot more severe then when I rear ended someone. And do they make the volvo bumpers JUST low enough so that they never actually hit stuff when you hit other cars? Best of luck, I always thought you had a very nice clean and high detail car, I hope it comes back at 110%!

welcome to the club. I just rear ended someone a couple of weeks ago..good thing the wrecking yard only charged $35 for a new front clip

if you were in NC I have a buddy with a frame machine.. that would only take about 30-50min once its tied down to the floor..

they rent a shop thats like 50+ years old and it has these cups int he floor with about 3links of chain on each.. you strap the car down and use this big ass sideways jack mounted to one of the other cups and then begin to pull that straight.. easy as pie

good luck..

you do realize this is the excuse to pull the engine and put in a b234F+T?

might as well put the car out of commission for the entire summer and get it done right...

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. Hope she turns out ok. if U were in Seattle I'd be happy to help U out w/ painting the fender. & any frame/inner structure pulling it may need.

2fasts was signifigantly lower than stock, actually. I always cringe in fear comparing my skinnies size and height to other bumpers on the road around me.

Best of luck getting her fixed!

Damn, Brian that ****ing blows man! That thing looks 10x cleaner out in the sunlight, too. It was finally getting nice enough out to drive it, too.

I may have a spare flat hood, and I also have a rust-free, -85 fender, in white, with a small little dent in it.

I hope to be pickng up a silver 242 this pm...
I will be parting it...
You can have a fender for $25 plus shipping...not including packaging.
unfortunately I think that's all I've got you can use...
perhaps bumber and bumper mounts...This one has the big bumpers
I'm not 100% sure of condition though

Teh suck. Glad it's semi-superficial though. Pretty cars shouldn't have to deal with this.

Good luck on the repairs... got a good reason to do a good detail job underhood anyways...

that sucks sh1t liek this takes the fun out of driving.

i dont know if you took a statement yet ...but if the person cut you off while changing lanes then slammed on the brakes, she can be more at fault(even though its a rearend accident). i'd check that out before you say anythig official.

man i wish.. anyways i founda white fender in the jy rust free.. with a small dent.. my car is no longer dentless.. o wel its a shallow dent and its the only set of old style fenders rust free. i also got a uppr radiator support. i need a lower support and i really need A FLATHOOD! and 7" round headlight sourrounds. the plastic parts the cosmetic stuff.

Well, at least it doesn't look like any 242 specific parts were damaged, so it shouldn't be TOO hard to find. Sounds like you already have a start though. Best of luck to you! I am sure that someone on here will have a flathood eventually.

Thats some good progress already. That fender should clean up pretty nice. For the dent, maybe you could try that heating and freezing technique and see if that works on Volvo metal.

#3 was me about month and a half ago... except the only thing that happened to my car, was bend the front plate back, and eject the grille, which was later ran over. The PT Cruisier on the other hand had the rear end mash to $***...

Your works looking good man... I could probably source you one, but it would be coming from rusty eastern canada... so it would not be worth your money. good luck with it though.

If you looked at the pictures of the 1800 I did (RIGHT AS WELL) bought NEW 1/4 panel adn rear pan .It was a pretty bad hit as well considering I had too put it on the frame machine. It doesn't appear that you had frame rail damage am I correct?
