Plans?

LC4CARL 02-24-2016 11:50 AM

Rather fluid at this time...

Probably the usual slippery slope of: safety / reliability, weight reduction, proper sport sound and refined sporty handling.

Moved to Portland 10 years ago and these cars really are popular here. Maybe I can find a local club.

Heading out for the smog / title transfer today. The tires are literally falling apart. Saw some used 195/60's on Craig's List for cheap. Should I stay with the 195 or is the 205 a good fit?

$600 in so far. So it begins...

Sweet ride Harribert.

LC4CARL 02-24-2016 12:00 PM

Oh, and I'd really like to have a car for the Leavenworth Drive. It's a super cool pilgrimage of euro cars to a Bavarian village in WA. About five hours one way. Better get those tires...

I saw your pic and thought you were a butchka

Me too. OP either needs to start machining really cool stuff or change his avatar.

Me too. I was kind of confused and trying to figure out what was special about it.

LC4CARL 02-24-2016 06:58 PM

What's a "butchka?"

LC4CARL 02-24-2016 06:59 PM

What's the hot set up for the spare tire well batter relocation? Is there a battery box that fits well?

Karl or Alex Buchka. You have the same profile image as one of them. I think Karl just because it would be extra ironic.

Just leave where it is. It's not a racecar. You can buy a smaller lighter Odyssey battery.

Start with stage zero first

LC4CARL 02-24-2016 09:22 PM

Well that would leave room for the nitrous bottle.

:wtf:

Hmm. I've got Beaker on a few forums. Maybe I should think about an alternate.

amerbritcan 02-24-2016 10:30 PM

A newbie...from 2008. Wut

LC4CARL 02-25-2016 01:15 AM

Been lurking on and off over the years. Wanted a brick for a while now. Glad to be here. Looking forward to a fun build.

205/60/15 is an easy fit.

I run 235/45/17s that fit well.

LC4CARL 02-25-2016 01:27 PM

Great. I've been scanning the CL ads. From what I've read, the 6" wheels should be adequate.

Made a list as long as my arm of stuff to fix. Round tires are at the top...

Steering is fine with the PS pump disconnected. Was a manual rack offered?

77volvo245 02-25-2016 01:34 PM

I have a manual rack from a 76 240 $150. The car was hit in run in the rear If your interested.

What i've seen they are NLA and don't included the manual steering shafts that is specifically for manual steering racks.

LC4CARL 02-26-2016 12:52 AM

Wonderful. Is it a bolt in swap?

Steering shaft? What's involved? Overhaul the column?

Thx.

It's bolt in. The steering shafts are different but a direct swap.

LC4CARL 02-26-2016 11:43 AM

PM sent.

LC4CARL 02-27-2016 12:44 AM

Do 240's look silly with no bumpers?

Diet plan:

To delete: A/C compressor, evaporator (maybe), PS pump (install manual rack), roof rack, spare tire (can of fix a flat), brake booster (maybe / swap to manual cylinder), rear muffler for side exit glass pack.

LC4CARL 02-27-2016 11:58 PM

Made a clean spot...
