Which grill is this?

Is this 240 grill custom or can I source this somewhere?

That's a group A grill. Post in the anted section and hunt ebay, expect to pay $200-$350+.

That looks like the Australian grill to me.

Looks like a 7/9 grille fitted in a 240 surround. Expect to pay $50 and an afternoon

So, have the chrome bars been removed? I can't seem to find any others via image search...

That absolutely is not a 7-9 Turbo grill installed in a 240 out frame. There are 4 obvious differences if you look at the pictures. Notice that the vertical ribs are slightly recesse9 and thinner than the horizontal ribs? They are also solid, whereas the 7-9 grill ribs are hollow on the back side to prevent plastic sink when they are molded. They are also the same thickness and radius on the front edge, unlike this grill. The upper corners on this grill aren't filled in the way the 9 series grill is. The other difference you can't tell from the pics is if you remove the emblem cross bar from a 7-9 grill there is a channel it runs in that becomes obvious. All the ribs are recesses ~ 1/8" where the emblem fits, including where the diagonal bar runs. Last, look at the grid count. The 240 grill grid has 12 blocks going horizontally, 7 vertically. The 9 series is 12X6. Look up Aussie grill. I think that is a slightly modified Aussie grill.

Ha. Found this identical thread from a few years ago... http://forums.turbobricks.com/showthread.php?t=328655

Would grille part # 1247271 fit in a 86+? I have one of those sitting around.

Edit: Looks like this one is alleged to fit 86+

They were wrong then and they are still wrong. The 740 turbo grill only has six rows. That grill has seven rows. The 740 Turbo grill also has hollow ribs. That grill has hollow ribs in one direction and solid ribs in the other direction.

Put this into a Google search and several cars running the Australian grill will pop up. You can see that they painted the outer grill surround black.

Volvo 240 Australian flat hood grill

James M 09-16-2020 03:18 AM

Yeah I was joking, I'm just saying it looks similar for much less.
Honeylake you already have a flathood grille anyways right, seems like your set

2manyturbos 09-16-2020 03:27 AM

^^

Definitely cheaper.

You're right, I have the euro grill for the flathood that fits the quad round setup, it is currently installed on the 242 and is staying put.

But I'm working on a '92 244 project and also have the grill listed above, 1247271, that apparently works with 86+ and stock headlights with an adapter/fabbed piece.

Here is that grill, listed for 240: https://www.volvo340onderdelen.nl/en...100060326.html

Looking for a workable solution, I would prefer a direct replacement that I can find/buy, but right now just piecing out options to see what's available.

75 € is dirt cheap for that, they're $250-$350 when they pop up here on the forum.

If it were in stock for 75 people wouldn't be getting $250+ for them.
