I have 185/65-15 tires on my car right now, would it be ok to go up a size to 195/65-15 without effecting performance and handling?

195-65-15 is the 'standard' size tire on my '95 944T according to my manual. Going to 195's you'll be getting 10mm more tire width.

Tire Size

205/60R-15 is a good size IMHO. Two sizes wider than 185/65R-15 & between 185/65-15 & 195/65-15 in overall diameter.

OOH a thread I can join in!

I have Hydras in the garage

I have Dracos on the car w/ 195/65/15 on. I want to put fatter rubber on the Hydras. would 225/50/16 be out of the question? would I be better off going for 215/55/16 for the Hydras?

I;d go with 205/60/15 too, some brand of tires are a hair taller and or wider even though they are designated as the same size, the width usually varies more than diameter but both come into play. You can take 205/60/15 BF Goodrich tire and put it beside a 205/60/15 GoodYear tire and the BFGoodrich tire will be wider by1/2-3/4 inch and a hair taller, shop and compare tires of different brands in same tire store and see it for yourself and buy what best suits your needs.

I've used 195/60/15 on 740s and they are much better than the 185/65/15. I've never tried 195/65/15s on a Volvo except on a V70 I test drove and they felt mushy. The speedo will be slightly off with the 195/65/15s
