Negative, but 7mm wire is 7mm wire.Amazon sells them at similar price, btw.

NGK is a company with good products, btw.

>86 244.

I have no idea what Volvo suggested...is 7mm correct?

AndrewNance 12-24-2014 12:02 AM

The Kingsborne wires aren't much more than that. Also crazychopstick will make you a set of 8mm Taylor wires.

I gotta put this ride through cali smog. Soo it has to be wrapped up soon.

So what's the deal with the size of wires? Larger wires=lower resistance? I'm in the market for new wires.

Sparkplug wires have changed in last forty years....ideally, one wants lower resistance wires with "maximum amount of radio frequency interference (RFI) suppression."

There is nothing wrong with those NGK wires, as based upon Rockauto's literature, They are an "iInductance (mag) wire, and they have RFI suppression, but NGK's site suggest they are for 1988 thru 1993 Volvos.

For 1986-244, they suggest: 1976 thru 1987 Volvos

NGK wires use spiral wound wire, similar to OE Volvo wires made by Bougicord.

Can I still get wires from the aspirator? It says he hasn't been on here in about 6 months.

gsellstr 12-24-2014 04:36 PM

I don't think Aspirator is making them.

Bret...seriously, hit up Kingsborne. Nice wire, legit, and cheap, plus you'll have them asap since they are actually made here in Cali. Dunno given the holidays, but every time I've ordered from them, with custom stuff even, it's been 3 days til I had them at my door. Think my wireset for the wagon was $48 delivered, with a MSD Blaster end on the coil wire and firebraid over the 8mm wireset. Basic wires were a good bit less. Boots are nice on them as well, though I haven't tried the metal boots as of yet.

Kingsborne is the place that was making the IPD stuff for quite a few years, dunno if they still are or not.

Napa sells a really nice set for pretty cheap if you need something that most stores have in stock.

OldGrandpaTune 12-24-2014 05:36 PM

I use NGK exclusively on everything. Never had an issue. Fit is great.

Also this. I've been using these on my 945 for a while with good results.

Agree. I'm also sure perfectly fine plug wires have been thrown in the trash many a time.

centason 12-24-2014 09:09 PM

I run 7mm Denso wires on my 93. Completely stock. No issue for many miles.
