Guides bent; I don't believe it. Worn out and sloppy certainly but not bent. Sounds to me like it ran with bent valves and the valves partially seized in the guides.

Question is, what did it do...

Yeah, checking whether the valves are bent would be silly; after all valves can't bend when the engine is turned by hand...

Like hell they won't; it doesn't take much to tweak a valve. It won't bend like a bannana but tweaking one enough that the seal is imperfect is effortless.

Sure, if you turned the engine over by hand without the cambelt on then the valves will have hit the pistons. It's an interference engine. You set the pistons, you set the valve gear, bolt the head...

How did that that happen, did the belt come loose?

The bores look fine to me, you can still see the honing marks.

Normally valve stem oil seals cause oil burn on the overrun, ie when you shut the throttle and coast down a hill on engine braking type scenario. They can be really bad and cause no significant oil...
