Is it a genuine issue? The plastic end tanks on a genuine radiator are good for 150K miles or so. If it really bothers you pull off the plastic tanks, fabricate aluminium ones and tig weld them on.

Nah, it's a loose bracket held on the block with 2 10mm headed bolts. I suspect it'll be a bugger to change with the gearbox in place but I've never tried.

How can it flood the swirl pot? It's sealed and there is an overflow back into the tank. Providing the overflow is clear, and sufficiently large, the low pressure pump can't pressurise the swirl pot.

It's not worth the bother in my view. Powder coating is dirt cheap, especially if you choose a colour the powder coater has in stock. The cost is in the materials not the gun.
