I'd clean it all out and it should be fine. There doesn't need to be any grease or lubes or anything in there. Clean the plug wire ends out also of course. Or just get a new cap and don't jank it up...

I always pull the rods out, clean and regrease them, douche out the hole they ride in. The grease gets pretty caked on there and sometimes calipers are needlessly replaced because of that.

It's not unusual to have sticky calipers, that is the main reason for tearing up new brakes. The sliders get gummed up, pistons stick, etc.
