They look very similar except there's no hump at the rear of the head on a B21/B23, hence the odd shape. Someone assumed that they were all the same. It should say '76-'84. '75 still had a B20.

The solenoid and light get their power from the same terminal on the relay. If the light doesn't stay on I'd suspect the relay although it shouldn't click unless it's in 4th so there may be a problem...

Your M40 trans is toast. There are likely very few salvageable...
