AFAIK the only color combos available for the 81...

AFAIK the only color combos available for the 81 model year was black with black interior, black with tan interior, and the two tone models. I don't think the ice blue color was available for 81 but...

Not sure what the numbers on those plaques are for but they don't even correspond to the vin numbers. Also as to the auction car how can it be 30 of 30 when 912 were built in 1981?

I do believe he is referring to the trim around...

I do believe he is referring to the trim around the door glass and the 1/4 window window glass. His door glass trim looks faded black , while the rear 1/4 glass is stainless in color.

You should be able to put it all back together like nothing ever happened. The right way is to use new hog rings. You can always use very sturdy cable ties to do the same thing as they will not show.

You can always apply fiberglass resin to the cards. Also make sure you have the vapor barrier on the door. A shower curtain line makes a cheap alternative to the original, nice and thick.
