The 740's have a factory amp on a bracket behind the cluster, that is just about the same size as the Alpine amp. Since everything is already there, a couple BIG zip ties to secure it to that bracket...

^^^^^ nailed it. With poly in there you can tighten in the air, but locktite and a lot of torque is a must. I've had to retighten mine a few times over the years.

FWIW, the 1030 in my 140 came with a 4.1 gearset from the factory, has a Richmond 4.1 gearset in it now with the TruTrac, no issues.

They are NOT the same actually. The 16v have a different offset than the 8v gears so they will stick further out from the head I believe. One of them is flat on the backside, one has an offset.
