The M90 really is a big, clumsy, unwieldy thing with agricultural ratios compared to the slender Getrag 262 Close Ratio dogleg. I've got an M90II as well but I'm saving it for my turbo build. :)

I tried a BMW 02 (Getrag 220 I guess) t/o bearing today but it was too large for the sleeve on the gearbox. The 535i one might be smaller, unless Volvo Getrags use a different diameter sleeve...

No, it's impossible to put dual gearboxes on a FWD car. :) Some people have done it with planetary gears on the driveshafts and stuff but much harder than on a RWD.

I'd advice you to try a chip, cam and manual boost controller and see how you like it before you tear the whole car apart. :) Manual swap is nice and all the parts you need can be sourced from a 1995...
