So I was down at Yoshifab last weekend, I saw a 240 with a CD009. It must have had a top mount shifter. I was told it took a considerable amount of 'adjusting' the transmission tunnel for it to fit.

I believe there is a loop there that if unplugged will kill power to the ECU or something.

Edit: looking at the 1985 wiring diagram, it appears to kill the starter circuit. YMMV

Mine was doing similar. I had a burnt exhaust valve. It was pushing un-burnt fuel into the exhaust manifold where it would ignite. Made for great turbo spin up, 20 psi at 4500 rpm.
