I had a very similar problem, and it ended up being those 2....

I always prefer the "aluminum", the copper always turns gummy and weird on plugs and exhaust stuff. It's rated for 1600 degrees vs 1800 for the copper.

Then get a new waterpump gasket and both seals, remove the waterpump, clean the sealing surface, install head, install waterpump. Plan on that and do it, you will be good.

Install the head first, just push the waterpump tight to the head while tightening. A little RTV never hurt if you are concerned, but it is not needed.
