On an '84 Turbo car there should be no flame trap. The flame trap was only used on the non-turbo cars. Should be a straight hose from the motor to the intake hose.

The alternator I have in my 240 Turbo right now is a junkyard 80 amp that I simply replaced the brushes on. Had to also switch a pulley. Works great.

All made in China now. The last rotors I got came from JC Whitney are were pretty damn good quality. Probably not perfect but they seem to be doing alright. Those are on the Ford however.

I would definitely rather be running a full synthetic on a turbo car that generates a lot of heat in that turbo. That is just insurance as the better oil will be much less likely to burn into carbon...
