I always thought that the center bore was a...

I always thought that the center bore was a better method for centering the wheel because they are machined to better tolerances? Made sense to me.

Similar setup to yours: non-abs 4-hose front brakes (Bendix/DBA.)

Took a while to figure out, but to keep it easy...

I bet the inner hard plastic collar is cracking. Mine started doing that, then it cracked all the way thru and the knob would come off in my hand every 1st - 2nd shift.

Yup, pistons hit the valves pretty good. At least a few of the pistons show erosion, possibly from bad injector spray pattern/leaking or dripping between pops, maybe injection pump timing too far...
