Disconnect the swaybar and the arm should swing down relatively easily.

The "ball" shouldn't be separate from the "cup", so it is obviously worn out, when you buy a new ball joint it...

I run 40 all round on my 760, anything less feels like mush, tyres wear almost perfectly evenly, just a little more on the shoulders on the fronts.

No, what that tells you is that there is an opening where the preheat hose goes into the airbox, it doesn't matter how much you open up the airbox it is still going to suck air through the preheat...
