I have never ever seen any info which backs up that the angled flange is better than the straigh, apart from peoples reasoning "larger is better".

What is a bigger restriction? A tiny 45mm turbine...

I routed the crankcase vent to a catch can instead of the intake.

I noticed that the vented gases smell like gasoline. Engine oil is new.

To what degree is this expected?

Swapped in 24x12x3" chinese/"ebay" intercooler today. Also 0.2 bar more boost than stock 940 IC.

Had to cut some metal from the car to fit the elbows and had to fab up new piping.
