Worst case, you could just plug the holes...

Worst case, you could just plug the holes (depending on your budget of course). That will be your cheapest option and the vehicle will be perfectly fine without them. Though this is not ideal.

Static pressure is essentially useless for determining charge level. Iíve seen 100+ psi static pressures on a car that was extremely low on refrigerant.

I’ve never changed anything on my pressure switch. My system is r12 and has been filled with propane as well as r134a. It worked fine with both.
