You can use the auxiliary shaft and distributor from your 240 engine. Wasted spark is ideal but your adding to the expense/time of project. You can always do wasted spark later on.

Have you checked to see if the bleeder screws are clogged. The bleeder screws can sometimes build up crud which would prevent the calipers from bleeding properly.
