Being at higher altitude will reduce the vacuum at idle, so yours might be fine depending on where you live. I found every 2,000' made a difference of about 1" of vacuum.

At Idle a new DI diesel will have an AF ratio of almost 100:1 (97:1 for a VW TDI, fwiw), at WOT they bottom out at about 24:1, they start to smoke a touch at ~20:1 and get pretty damn smoky at 14:1.
