Would give a low end grunt like it probably does, and give good mid range. May or may not run out of steam. Only speculation. Would have to test it and see how it works out.

Hmmm... interesting. Though, I've never had a rod bearing go on a redblock. Toyotas have more of a thud sound. Damned engine acoustics.

Well firstly, what's your budget? IPD springs and Bilstein shocks are pretty budget. Along with some IPD sway bars, it's not that bad of a combo. It would be a huge change from what you have now.

Compression is good until it isn't. At 400k it did good. Probably was holding on by a thread. Thread broke. It's tired. Hopefully will need a hone and new rings.

Have you checked your fuel pressure regulator? Pull the vacuum line on the regulator and see it it's wet or smells like fuel. If it does, the regulator is bad. Smell of fuel could be a bad regulator.

To be fair, I've ridden in a 67 Camaro with a RideTech kit, and that SOB handled like it was on rails. A kit or custom work should be built around the air bags, which means a lot of custom parts.

I'd look for a 2.95 first gear T5. 3.35 will leave you wanting a first gear. 2.95 with a 4.xx rear end is a good combo. 3.35 with 4.xx will give you 20 feet before you have to shift.
