Yeah put some sillycone or grease on that top round rubber gasket that goes between the head and the pump so it won't buckle the gasket as you slide the pump on. I did have one of the paper gaskets...

Yes you can make it work, just gotta figure out which wires to hook up to the other wires. You only really need 4 wires from the harness for it to actually run. Check that thread with the same title.
