I have never seen a OHV or SOHC red block warp as a result of a blown head gasket.

I don't know if that gives you any comfort, but you can easily find out once you have the cylinder head removed.

If this '91 has LH2.4, then as long as you lined up the flywheel correctly on the end of the driveshaft and with the engine at Top Dead Center, it will start.

If you didn't do that, it will crank...

Yes. Use a small flat-bladed screwdriver to remove the chip and pry it up slowly. There's a U-shaped cutout on short edge/end of the chip - make note of its location.

My advice is to replace that first.

It goes in between the seat belt latch and the bolt hole in the transmission tunnel. The two prongs lock into the center E-brake console to prevent the belt latch from falling down.
