If you went T-5, which is the smartest route unless you enjoy swapping transmissions, the Kaplehenke adapter allows both straight up and tilted installations. You know 10 years ago.

Can I run the Volvo 940 cooling fan relay directly off of ALED or WLED outputs on a microsquirt v.3 or do I need to use a smaller Bosch ice cube relay to operate the larger Volvo relay?

Lh2.2 is arguably more reliable, the hall sensor has a stronger signal than the VR sensor in lh2.4. I'm pretty sure 2.2 computers are more robust too, but this is anecdotal from browsing TB.
