Everything up to 91 for 240 uses a steel cover. 92-93 240s are the only years that had the aluminum cover.

Steel diff covers use a gasket. It's recommend to use a Volvo gasket. Aluminum cover uses a sealant. I've personally used the green rtv and it works well. No leaks to report.

Restore it to stock. It ain't a race car. Get you a Bosch main fuel pump and get the the turbo intake pump(rock auto best prices). Also get a fuel filter. Don't mess with someone else's shoddy work....

Hopefully it's not bent and it's just the hinge. First thing you do on an old Volvo is lubricate all the hinges.

On the trans swap, get the overdrive block out plate. $25 on Ebay. Keep it simple...

If you have a known good trans, pay someone to install it. This is a very crappy job to do on the ground. If you do end up doing it yourself, get yourself a trans jack if you don't already have one....

:lol: you'll never be able to drive the rivets in. They'll break first. Just get some appropriate sized bolts and nuts. This is what I do on every hinge that I replace.
