Does the 7 series have a "splash shield" similar to the 200 series cars? If so (OP), is it in place? That piece creates an area of low pressure below and behind the radiator which helps draw air...

You could repurpose one of the front fender/side...

You could repurpose one of the front fender/side badges for the decklid. 242DL with 5.3 below it, instead of 2.1. That was the approach I took for right side of the decklid.

The front bumper in particular takes a beating from debris. Me? I’d send ‘em off and have ‘em powder coated. I made mine easy to remove - every 3 years or so I pull it and repaint.

As I recall - 2 fasteners where column passes...

As I recall - 2 fasteners where column passes through and smack it with my hand; took all of 45 seconds and shifted the column maybe 1/4” away from the manifold.

If you haven't done it yet -- loosen up the fasteners holding the column and you can shift the column a bit towards the driver's side - that should free you up a bit of clearance as well.

Have not had the pleasure of having to change out either on mine.....usually the rods have some sort of threaded length adjustment so that a replacement needs to be set to the same length as the one...
