Unplug the ECU. Still spraying fuel? If so look in the wiring harness. If not; ECU.

Most of what I got to do with ZF boxes in Volvos is extract when dead and replace with AW that didn't blow up.

The old ones with bushings between gear and mainshaft would pop out on decel when the bushing got worn.

More often then not your 240t will need injector seals, O2 sensor, other false air leaks repaired, set CO and she runs well.

It happens. The gasket between rear main housing and block shrinks with age. Now bolts are no longer tight. Reassemble with good RTV after having that housing off.
