So I bought a 740 that had been sitting for over 3 years due to a failed fuel pump. Thought I would give in to the low price and make it my daily driver. My father loves volvos but this was the first one I had ever thought about buying even though he has tried in the past to find a nice 850 for me to buy. Its a 92 n/a automatic with 160k. Interior it rather nice shape. Well this is was she looked like upon cleaning up and fixing.....

and now she is cleaned up w/ new fuel pump, motor tuned up to stage 0, idp lowering springs, new headlights, corner lense, dyed bumpers, 19mm rear sway bar, and hydros.

I love this car...sooo much better than the 96 explorer I was driving before hand. Ill post more pics in the next few days.

I have been thinking about bring some back to life as well. But that means having them towed home. Maybe when I het the hauler fixed. NIce car and good work.

I have recently in the last few weeks changed the timing belt/tensioner/water pump/all seals on front of motor/ added a t-cam (big difference on bottom end torque) factory volvo dog gate/ painted grill black/ and thule bike rack.

Looks great! I would have sources a set of encode headlights and slapped those on, as well as an egg crate grille, like I did with my 940. Really makes the car stand out. Throw a roof rack on it and call it finished! Oh, and some center caps!

its got a roof rack on it. I just rotated the tires and havent put the center caps back on it yet but kinda torn on the look without the caps right now.

Here's my 940.

looks good clay. I just realized you are in norman, ok. I flew into there for training last october for about a week. Didnt get to see much but did run around university of oklahoma a few mornings to check out the campus. Got to eat at fuzzy's taco shop in town, that place had awesome food.

So I tinted my rear windows now and installed some front and rear 25mm IPD sways I came across at the pull-a-part.

I also was wanting a egg crate but it being a 92 non fog light made me have issues so I just created my own egg crate! This.....

Into this......

which equals this...

Love what you've done with the car. The grill looks great, I assume you just cut the eggcrate center down to fit in the non-fog surround? Looks cleanly done.

Just had to slightly modify the mounting points on how it clips in. The eggcrate center fit right into the standard outer of my stock one without any cutting. Thanks....I have been wanting the eggcrate grill for awhile but wasnt sure how to go about it since its really a one year only for the non fog lights (90)

I'm confused. So did you use a fog light front end eggcrate or a 90 eggcrate for the center section? I have a non fog 940 and would love a eggcrate grill. I know I could probably swap over the 90 front end parts and use a 90 grill, but it can be hard to find a 90 740 specifically at the yards... and it's not a huge priority.

I just found a fog light egg crate off a early 90s 740. I took my grill and took the egg crate and created what you see. Chrome outer from my car and egg crate center from fog light grill. It was a snug fit but worked well. Its not an exact swap but its not a hard thing to do. I did not swap anything over to a 90 model. Its all standard 92 stuff otherwise.
