Dropped off a bunch more stuff at the machine shop. Squirters, flywheel, accessories to be beadblasted, etc etc. The block has been bored and honed to spec, looks awesome. Crank is at the grinders right now, he said that the thrusts measured out fine so using STD bearings will yeild clearances within spec. Looking at the thrust bearing that was in this motor before, I can't see ANY wear on either surface, I guess that's a good thing right...? Then the crank/pistons/rods/flywheel/PP are getting balanced.

JL, I've got a little welder that can do the bung just fine, I've done two in the past. Thanks though!

JVL, okay you've talked me into it. I LOVE the way the autometer mechanical ones look and react, but I just can't afford it right now. I have my stock volvo OP gauge cause it's a 3 bar and is almost always maxed out, I wanna know what's going on above that! But it'll do for now, maybe I even have a 5 bar kicking around...

Picked up the rebuild/ported/polished 398 head that Athal spent countless hours working on for his own car, then eventually decided to go with a 405. Athal man this thing looks awesome, you did a wonderful job. CC's are roughly 56cc so that bumps my compression up to 9.6ish. I think the intake side will flow a HELLUVA lot better than the 405 that it is replacing on my car, just by looking at the pics below. I mean the 398 has no K-jet injector in the way, and the overall port just seems bigger and rounder:

Exhaust side looks spectacular:

Mmmmmm Mmmmm clean!

Later doods, the little woman and I are going on vacation for a few days. The machine shop should be all done mid-late next week, lets just hope I can afford the bill! I'm expecting it to be around $800-900usd.
