Cossie T3

I had a 0.55 Cossie T3 on my B200FT, with an A cam, 3" exhaust, 4" thick intercooler & chipped ECUs. Was a little bit laggy in 1st, but once it was spinning it was awesome. Used to run it at 20psi.

No Turbotechniques over down the road from Garrett UK was making or makes new ones on Garretts old original patterns---I know cause i talked with the head of the team that did the Ford versions..he gave me the right contact person and that guy said that they decided on their own to do a .55 version....

Damn rare..

Might be worthwhile checking at Turbotechniques

Still around, catalog is from 2012

Turbo Technics is also the same company that told me that it's impossible for a T3 to flow enough gas to make over 250bhp.....

Yaar, ya never can tell who the fool on the other end of the line is..
I've had people tell me/post truly crazy things on some subjects--nuts really---and then scream "I talked to an engineer at..... so neener neener neener"

(And you wonder, 'owed 'e knoow??? Oh did the guy hold his degree up to a smart phone, or scan it and email it or OH! the guy on the other end just happened BLURT OUT "well actually I'm am engieeeeer....")

Got a TB0384 being delivered next week - usual hairline cracks around the wastegate hole but that's it. It'll be getting a rebuild (when money subsides) at Universal Turbos just a few miles from me.

That T34 ended up going for ?271 in the end, I bought the 4x4 T3 for ?150 delivered.

Still not arrived this T3.... Is everyone using -3AN or -4AN for the oil feed? Think I might adapt the stock Volvo 13C hard line if it all lines up probably, hopefully, or have an AN fitting TIG'd onto the end then run a braided line from that. Don't fancy a braided line under all those hot exhaust bits.

I've used a 1/8 or 1/4NPT male to -6 AN male/male fitting in a little plate bolted down..I've cleaned up old Saab 900 and 9000 oil inlets when they were common as chips in the yars, then make a pile of 'em on water jet--Like $5 each so better-er-er than stumbling around in wrecking yards..
Like this--usually in steel

I feed the turbo from a remote filter head in line on the way back from the oil cooler--my thinking is the poor little turbo is the hottest thing, and maybe it be happier if I feed it nice cool oil right back from the cooler rather than picking oil up in the sump and feeding the poor widdle thing oil that is who knows but maybe 120C.

Maybe you can see the thing --this is my old Frod Crossways Frewbie Frew

Does the T3 not need a restrictor, or? Was tempted by this;

http://www.atpturbo.com/mm5/merchan...tp&Product_Code=ATP-FLA-020&Category_Code=BCS

But I see you can get products like this;

http://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/PQY-STORE-1-2-NPT-Female_60087488168.html

Which is what you describe. I wont be going remote filter myself unfortunately but the oil will have a water-oil cooler with a bigger rad. Also helps in the colder climate of the UK to warm the oil up on start up.. Of course wont be using Alibaba products but UK ones. I see plenty 4AN oil feed flanges but not 6AN.

That and that, I think.

I've got M10 studs but I think I'll have to get these drilled out.

Yeah that's a 2wd housing..I pull the studs drill 'em to clean--like 10,2mm I'd like to do a little spot face on the 2wd units where the nut will be nestling vause its 'as cast" now and the face is thinck enough we could kiss it and have more room for the nut--I us reduced hex 15mm AF..

lil' crack ain't nuthin.

Wasn't aware it was a 2wd housing but it has TB0384 stamped on the front, I'll measure the comp wheel just to check.

Is it worth having the studs drilled out to 10mm/10.2mm and remove all the threads? I have M10 studs and nuts with me.

I can use a Volvo T3 CHRA in place of the Ford one, can't I? Just swap the wheels over and balance. Means I can get a cheaper refurb and use the stock T3 Volvo hard oil feed line.

Wonder if I can get a 360 bearing for it..

Got my TB0384 refurbed by Turbo Dynamics here in Christchurch. Fab company, albeit a pricey refurb but had a 360 bearing done, some comp house machining, some wastegate machining and a clean too. They also drilled out the turbine housing intake to M10 straight through holes.

Wastegate bracket? B21FT wasn't it, or just any 'universal' bracket?
